I'm an artist who fights on the side of LIFE! I'm 66, have ALS, and fight to overcome my limitations with the support of a loving husband, a warm and wonderful family, awesome friends, faith and always, humor. Just because I had to put my cape and tights in storage doesn't mean I can't fly!

Before the onset of ALS I kayaked rivers and the ocean, hiked the Green mts. of VT and was moderately successful as an artist. I can no longer use the pastels, colored pencils and papers I so loved and now paint with the help of my computer to express the musings of my mind. Every day is a fight to hold my disease in check, but each day is also a gift. I fight my battle with the help of my wonderful family and friends, and my husband who sticks by me with love, help with the things I can't do on my own, and humor.

That's a pretty amazing picture, Pam. Our children are really inheriting so much stuff from us that is bad and could have been avoided...I wish we could leave a softer, easier path for them but I agree that many of them seem to have a more idealistic outlook and I hope they keep it.
Beautiful image. I worry so much, and I'm so ashamed of what we are leaving for them. Unconscienable (spelling?). It impresses me to no end when young people step forward to remind us of the environment. Sometimes I think if we called it "the mother," or "the father," we would act with more care.
Just today two of my 8th-grade volunteers asked why there is no recycling bin in our office. They are going to set it up for us next week!

Lovely image. I never worried til I had kids and as they grew older, I started to realize what they would have to contend with. We are a throw away society and I think that is so sad.
I can see where my kids are more conscious then I was of the environment and it is good. I just wish more were like that.

Stunning image! I too am very concerned about environmental issues, but I think that our current generation of young people have a lot of ideals and hopefully the energy to put those ideals into action to save the planet (if the current generation of adults can start caring more on practical levels so that things aren't even more of a mess for the next generation to inherit).
